Here at Harvest Moon we strive to raise quality dairy goats that can be both competitive in the show ring AND in the milk pail. We are ADGA Plus members and take part in monthly DHI Production testing, and had our first Linear Appraisal July 2022. In 2023 we will welcome our first AI kids as we implemented artificial insemination in to our breeding program in the fall of 2022. Our entire herd is socialized and handled frequently. All goats are registered with ADGA (working to be dual registered with AGS as well). We take biosecurity very seriously and maintain a clean tested herd, there will be a couple special additions in 2023 and then we will be closing the herd to new animals unless something exceptional comes along. For this reason, if you visit the farm for an animal pickup we do ask that you do not enter any pastures or dry lots without permission. We would be happy to show you any particular animal(s) you're looking for but will do our best to have them well represented here on our site. Please contact us for written consent before copying or reposting and photos or content.
At this time we do not offer goat transportation through airline services but there are many ground options that pass through northeast Kansas and we will do our best to meet transporters on route within reasonable distance.
Entire herd (over 6 months) tested NEGATIVE for CAE, CL and Johnes June 2022.
Does in milk also tested NEGATIVE for Brucellosis and Q-Fever in June 2022, just a little peace of mind for consuming raw goats milk.
Here you will find the heart of the breeding program, our foundation herd. Occasionally a doe here and there will be available to make room for retained juniors
Second fresheners are usually judged the hardest here. We expect them to be mature enough to show their true potential. If they stick around to their third freshening and above they’ll be moved to our senior/foundation does tab.
Breeding Schedule and expected kidding date after confirmation of pregnancy. Contact us to be added to our wait list. Once notified you'll have 24 hours to place a deposit before kid(s) are offered to next in line. Preference given to performance (show, DHI, 4-H) homes or those with a deposit. We do not reserve based on blue eyes, moonspots or other colors. Flash is fun to look at but not what we breed for. We reserve the right to retain any kid born for our herd.
In 2023 we welcomed two sweet Oberhasli does to our daughters’ show herd. They will not be the main focus of our dairy goat herd but they still hold a very special place nonetheless.
