Thank you for your interest in an animal from Harvest Moon Ranch. It is important to know the farm you’re purchasing animals from. Everything from regular management and maintenance practices to feeding and breeding. We want you to be pleased with your purchase(s) and, therefore, have some terms that govern the sale of our animals. Please read the following terms and conditions before inquiring about an animal. We highly encourage you to fill out a pre-purchase questionnaire so that we can help find the animal(s) that will help you meet your goals and expectations.
Reservations of kids are always free to make and are placed on a first-come, first-served basis, those however with $100 deposits will take first priority. When making your reservation, please give us your name, email, and phone number so that we can easily reach you upon your kid(s) birth. Please, also indicate whether you would like to reserve a doeling, buckling, or wether, how many, and from which planned breedings. We will go through the reservations before offering any animal to the general public. Please see our kidding schedule to see what animals are available to place a reservation on.
Upon notification of availability of any animal reserved from us, a non-refundable deposit of half the purchase price must be paid within 48 hours to hold the animal, unless other arrangements have been made. If 48 hours has elapsed and no deposit has been made we will offer the kid up to the next person on the list and/or the general public if no other reservations remain. In the event of cancellation, between time of birth and pickup, the deposit MAY be allowed to be applied to another animal, but will NOT be refunded. This deposit covers the cost of feeding and housing the animal while it is being held and to compensate us for the time in which that animal could have been sold to someone else. Final payment must be rendered within 30 days of the initial deposit and prior to any animal leaving our property. Unless other arrangements have been made, you will forfeit your deposit if full payment has not been received and that animal will then be offered up for sale. Payments can be made via venmo or paypal (if you do not send friends & family add 3% to the total payment). Checks may also be accepted if sent in advance and have time to clear the bank before arranging pick up. Only cash will be accepted at pick up.
*Please note: If you would like an animal with horns, payment for an animal must be made in FULL within 3 days of the animal having been born. We will NOT register goats left with horns as they cannot be shown. Without full payment all kids will be disbudded. This is for the health and well-being of the animal. If you choose to pay for a HORNED kid and back out of the sale of the goat prior to 10 days of age you will forfeit your money.
All animals will be up to date with vaccinations, deworming, and hoof trimming. The health of our animals is essential to us and we will not release any animal that we feel is not in condition to transition in to a new herd. However, once an animal leaves our possession it then becomes the buyer's responsibility and we can no longer guarantee the health of the animal. It is the buyers responsibility to inspect any and all animal(s) upon pickup and if buyer is then unsatisfied with the condition of their purchase we must be notified within 24 hours of leaving Harvest Moon. Any veterinary care after leaving Harvest Moon is the sole responsibility of the new owner and is between the buyer and their veterinarian. Doelings and bucklings are sold as breeding quality stock (unless otherwise noted). Therefore, in the instance that a genetic defect was missed and is found, which was present at birth, (such as teat spurs, extra teats or retained testicles) the buyer is eligible to receive a replacement animal of equal value from either that year or the next year's kidding season. We do not guarantee mature size of kids or adults as they continue to mature and we do not guarantee that a doe or buck will never have a kid with a defect. Genetics are complicated and we have no control over what other genetics buyers choose to introduce to animals from Harvest Moon. In the event of a defect, the buyer will be required to submit a signed copy of the veterinary report which includes permanent identification. A copy of a certified veterinarian's statement deeming that animal had a condition prior to transfer will be required for any and all replacements.
*Purchaser has the right to a full veterinary examination at his/her expense on any animals (with a deposit down) to be purchased prior to taking possession of said animal. Animals crossing state lines are required to have a certificate, animals within the state are optional. Any additional testing fees are the responsibility of the buyer as well.*
Bottle kids will need to be picked up by 3 weeks of age, dam raised kids shall be picked up at time of weaning (between 8-12 weeks of age depending on each individual animals growth and progress). We have found that a medium to large sized, plastic dog kennel lined with pine shavings works well. Buyers are expected to have proper shelter to keep their animals out of the elements. The majority of our buildings are three-sided shelters that protect animals from wind and rain/snow. For the health and well-being of the animal, please keep your new animals out of the elements during transportation. Please make sure you can arrange transport for the agreed upon timeline prior to sending a deposit. If transport (or self pickup) can not be worked out within the agreed upon timeline, or you can't make the purchase work for any other reason, deposits are NON REFUNDABLE. So please make sure you can work everything out before placing deposits.
*Buyer is responsible for all transportation related costs which includes, but is not limited to: Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) or health certificate (required for all out-of-state buyers) and associated testing, transport fees of actual animal for pickup and delivery to new destination, crate or kennel, and pine shavings.*
We reserve the right to refuse sale to anyone, for any reason, at any time, without explanation. We reserve the right to retain any kid at any time. In the case we decide to retain an animal you have a deposit on, deposits will be refunded or transferred to another purchase. Deposits will not be refunded if the animal is not the color or eye color you wanted, etc. We may ask for stud service back, first right of refusal, etc.
We disease test our herd through an accredited lab. These reports are available to see upon request for any potential buyer. Our herd tested NEGATIVE for CAE, CL, Johne's, Q-Fever & Brucellosis through WADDL in 2022. Herd tested NEGATIVE for CL & Johne's in June 2024. Because we kid out somewhat year round/seasonal we have started CAE Testing in groups based on expected due date.
For the health of our goats, we will not sell a single goat by itself if you do not already own goats. Goats are very social animals and must be housed with at least one other goat in order to be truly happy. If you are primarily interested in one doeling or buckling, please also inquire about getting a pet wether as it's herd mate.
