Harvest Moon Cattle

We decided to add registered stock in to our commercial cattle in 2009. We have hand selected each new Red Angus line that we have brought in and have built with a very strong emphasis on calving ease, maternal traits and longevity. In 2021 we added a new bull to bring in more Grid Master traits and have already started to see the impact he'll make to improve our foundation herd. 

The fall of 2021 brought a new addition to the cattle herd! Oldest daughter, Makenzie has decided to branch off with her own herd of Registered Charolais. After studying EPD's and evaluating heifers she selected her very first heifer to show in 2022. It may be a couple years before we have any to offer but you can follow the progress here. 

While we love our registered herd, our commercial cows are evaluated just the same. The majority of our foundation was built using only Registered Red Angus bulls on Angus and Charolais heifers. Maximized the traits we loved the most and brought in Red Angus bulls to continue to improve the next generation. We bred just a handful to a Simmental bull around 2015 via AI but remained strong with our Red Angus influence. In 2023 we are bringing in another Simmental for our replacement heifers and late 2024 plan to utilize our retained Charolais bull. 

We only utilize genetics from registered bulls, predominantly Red Angus with EPD statistics on file. In 2023 our mature herd will all be bred to a Red Angus bull, retained heifers will either be artificially inseminated to Red Angus or bred to our new Simmental heifer bull. We have retained a Charolais bull to use in 2024 season. 

We always have cattle available for sale. If there is something in particular you're looking for please contact us directly as they won't always be posted. We will not pull calves from cows before weaning unless in the best interest of both the calf and the cow. Weaned calves available every Spring and Fall. 

This section is still under construction. In summary. We operate a closed herd with the exception of very few hand-selected show heifers the kids picked out in 2022. Pregnant cows are sold with positive blood test or will be listed as exposed only. Bulls are sold with fertility exams.  Calves are sold as is and will be vaccinated and dewormed prior to pick-up. Any registered cattle will be sold with registration papers or will be transferred through the registry at time application is submitted. All sales are final for biosecurity reasons.
